Dr. Barrett’s interest in integrative health care began at the age of 7.  She was diagnosed with severe scoliosis and told that only major surgery could help.  She and her family explored many alternative and holistic treatments.  Ultimately, Dr. Barrett proved to her doctors and herself that the problem could be managed, improved, and even resolved without surgery.

Dr. Barrett’s early exposure to holistic medicine, combined with her martial arts practice, led her to seek out Chinese medicine knowledge.  She has spent more than two years in China pursuing her passion of using Chinese medicine to heal herself and others.
Dr. Barrett’s Chinese medicine experience extends well beyond her schooling.  During her clinical internship at FCIM, Dr. Barrett performed 300+ patient treatments.  While in China, she observed over 3000 patient treatments by a renowned Chinese herbal medicine master.  She interned at a successful Orlando acupuncture clinic for 1.5 years, learning traditional Chinese medicine techniques and Shang Han Lun herbal methods.  Dr. Barrett is currently studying with a Malaysia-based Chinese medicine doctor who is well-known in Asia and highly sought-after worldwide.

Dr. Barrett actively seeks improvement through continued study.  She has studied Classical Chinese Pulse Diagnosis (CCPD), Shang Han Lun herbal theory, Korean Hand Technique, auriculotherapy, Yuanshu spinal and four-limb treatment methods, scalp acupuncture, Hara diagnosis, and other methodologies.  She is fluent in both English and Chinese.

Dr. Barrett also offers classes to help her patients learn about Chinese medicine and self-care.  She is a highly qualified teacher of Qigong, Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan), martial arts, and self-defense.
